Show Me a Marriage of Convenience by Alexa Verde

August 27, 2020 in my point of view

Show Me a Marriage of Convenience

An ex-player cowboy with a little son, the boy’s shy plus-size aunt, and a reluctant modern marriage of convenience only the boy is excited about… A sweet, clean, wholesome romance with a happily-ever-after!

After three near-death experiences in one day-okay, maybe burning dinner and falling from a tree shouldn’t count-Kade Clark worries about his son’s future if he’s not around to protect him. The last thing he wants is for his son to become a bargaining chip between a con artist grandfather and a ruthless ex trying to get their hands on the family fortune. So Kade agrees to a crazy proposal from the woman his child adores. But as a former foster kid, Kade learned to walk away before getting hurt. Can he now learn to stay and love?

Heather Johnson dreams of a real marriage with the man her sister abandoned, not a fake one. But the rumor is Kade might leave their small town again and take her darling nephew with him. She’s reluctant to trust a womanizer-husband or not. If she allows love for him to ignite her heart, will her marshmallow-soft heart become roasted and burned?

Cowboy Crossing Romances series set in a small town in the Show Me State is about curvy forty-something women and the swoon-worthy single dad cowboys who love them, though sometimes those rugged handsome men might need a nudge-or a push.

    my point of view:

Okay, you guys know me well enough to know how much I adore books with children, but this story is soooo wonderful and I absolutely adored these characters! Heather is such a brave soul to put her heart on the line in trying to keep her promise to her dad and keep her heart intact at the same time! I have no idea how ard it would be to contstanly be living in the shadow of your own sister, but Heather has a heart so big you cannot help but fall in love with her. If only Kade would open his eyes, lol! Both of these charachters have a lot of growing to do, and trusting God is the key to it all.

Alexa has a beautiful way of bringing the people to life right off the page and making you feel as if you are right there with them in every situation. It’s so refreshing to read a story about characters closer to 40 then their teens, and a plus size heroine is always fun! I am so excited over this new series from Alexa and cannot wait to read more of these stories form the Show Me state!

    About Alexa Verde

Alexa Verde writes feel-good small-town romances with a smile. She’d love it if you subscribed to her newsletter http://www.alexaverde.com/contact.html#newsletter (every subscriber gets a free Christian romance after confirming the subscription as a thank-you gift). She penned her first literary masterpiece, a rhymed poem, at the ripe age of eight, and since has had twenty books and 200 short stories, articles, and poems published in the five languages that she speaks. She has bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish, a master’s in Russian, and enjoys writing about characters with diverse cultures. She’s worn the hats of reporter, teacher, translator, model (even one day counts!), caretaker, and secretary, but thinks that the writer’s hat suits her the best. After traveling the world and living in both hemispheres, she calls a small town in south Texas home. The latter is an inspiration for the fictional setting of her popular series Rios Azules Christmas and Secrets of Rios Azules. She hopes and prays that her stories will bring joy to her readers. Heartfelt thanks for interest in her books!
Alexa is generously offering a $5.00 Amazon gift card to one commenter on this post! I love marriage of convenience stories because they seem to be the modern equivalent to an arranged marriage. Lust usually isn’t a driving force, at least at first; hopefully there is spark later, of course. Instead common sense reason push the marriage. I think many of us wonder if more marriages would last if our society looked at marriage Was a choice that both parties should made based on determined minds, not on sweaty hands.

Loved the way you put it, Frankie! Marriage based on determined minds. From what I heard, marriages of convenience often last longer than usual marriages. Thank you for commenting!

Well since so many countries still do arranged marriages, etc, it’s interesting to see how it may work out. I can’t imagine marrying someone for something other than love but it happens so often in our world. To me it’d be scary. 😳😳😳

        August 29, 2020 at 12:21 pm

Vicki, thank you for commenting! So true, many countries still do arranged marriages. Yes, it’s a very scary step to marry someone you don’t love yet!

I am new to the marriage of convenience concept, as I have only read one that I know of.
It’s a tricky concept, because I believe marriage is a covenant for life. If the idea is to marry with the idea of divorcing when a convenient opportunity arises, it is a little troubling.
However, the books Alexa writes are safe to me, as I know that in the long run the couple will fall in love and live happily ever after.

      • AvatarAlexa Verde says

        August 29, 2020 at 12:24 pm

Susan, I agree, marriage with the idea of divorce down the road would be troubling to me, too! Thankfully, we know that in these books, true love will emerge. Thank you for commenting!

Woohoo, congratulations on a new series. I love reading stories about marriages of convenience. It’s like a Mail order bride story in a different era. When kids are involved it is even more special. These stories allow God to work in the hearts of each person involved and show them that they were meant to be together for a reason.
