Gina Hernandez, Brynn’s best friend, has had her ups and downs. A sketchy home life and childhood trauma made her into a determined young woman who struggles with insecurities. She’s a passionate caregiver whose heart beats for others, even if she doesn’t fully trust them.
Youth pastor Jaydon Bennett has seen his share of the ugly side of life. The pain of a failed marriage still taunts him, but snarky Gina reawakens his hopes for a healthy relationship. But there’s something about the new girl in his youth group that reminds him of Gina.
While sparks fly and their bond grows stronger, Jaydon and Gina have to navigate some tough situations to figure out how they can help the girl and her family before Gina’s history repeats itself. Or worse.
Can Gina trust herself, trust Jaydon, and hardest of all, trust God to handle it all?
my point of view:
This is my first book by Jaycee Weaver, and i was blessed to have received this in a contest giveaway. I promise you it will not be my last! I absolutely adored this story, the writing, the characters, the struggles, and most importantly the faith behind every word written! Even though this is the second book in the series, I never read the first one and I can promise you this stands on its own quite beautifully. I was so taken with Gina, she has such a huge personality that will have you literally laughing out loud! I just know I would be friends with her in real life. To me, that is one of the highest praises I can give a character in a novel!
Gina has had such a rough go in her upbringing that has caused her to have insecurities we can only imagine….but she has a faith in God that is unshakable, and this makes for one amazing heroine! Gina is so giving and caring about everyone around her, that sometimes you lose sight of yourself, until you meet that one person who really sees inside you….enter Jaydon. Ah, the big bear of a youth pastor that has such a gentle heart…a heart that has been broken, but not shattered. Can these two help each other while they continue to help all those around them? You will need to read it to find out, lol! I promise you will not be disappointed!
Jaycee Weaver lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her amazing husband, three daughters, a crazy shih-tzu, and a dwarf rabbit. When she’s not writing, she’s probably in hot pursuit of her 90 million other hobbies or shuttling the kids around. Jaycee loves to read books in multiple genres, drink too much coffee (honestly, when are they going to make the coffee IV a real thing?!), sing, take landscape and floral photos, sew, cook, bake, and craft nearly anything. She considers herself a recovering perfectionist and sometimes hot mess. She does her best to live her faith in action, being open, honest, and real; letting God be Lord over the good, the bad, and the ugly even when it’s hard.
My family loves my homemade macaroni and cheddar. I make it with Vermont cheddar cheese.
Oh goodness, Lori, Mac N Cheese is a favorite of ours as well, and real Vermont cheddar…mmmm…I am drooling, lol!
This sounds like a great read. I love the cover. My family likes my sausage dip it is a side dish but they always ask me to make it when we get together. Thanks for the chance.

Oh, yum, Tammy, that sounds like something I would love! I might need you to email the recipe. Maybe I should start a page for recipes? Hmmm…
My family loves my chili, and it goes in the slow cooker which makes it easier for me.
Oh, Lisa, you are a girl after my own heart, I love anything that can go into a slow cooker!
I love to make spaghetti and meat sauce. It is such a simple and quick meal that my family enjoy.
Yes, always a go to for this Italian girl! Thank you for sharing, Sonnetta!
I like to make lasagna.
Thanks for the chance to win this book.
Woo hoo for another Italian classic! Thank you, Terry!
The book sounds great. Your review gets me excited to read it. This is a new author for me too!
Aww, thanks, Erica! I hope you have the opportunity to get to read it, I truly enjoyed Jaycee’s writing!
This sounds like a good book! I haven’t read anything by Jaycee Weaver yet so that’s another plus. And the funny thing is…I’ve been trying to think of the last name of one of my former pastors. (That sort of thing happens more and more these days!!!) Anyway, as soon as I saw Jaycee’s name, I thought “That’s it! Weaver! His name was Gene Weaver! So thanks for that also. My favorite dish to make for others is my broccoli casserole. It’s easy and people seem to like it.
How sweet is that, there is always evidence of God at work! I bet my hubs would love your casserole, Sherri!
My husband loves my homemade chicken salad. I always make us a large bowl full, so it takes a long time to put together. We eat it for several days before it’s gone. It’s so yummy. Thanks for a chance to win the book. Linda
Hi, Linda! Chicken salad is a favorite in our house too! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Paula! I love your review. I’m ready to read it. 💗
I have “Adrift: A Grace Springs Novella” by Jaycee. I look forward to reading more of hers.
I love your site, Paula! It’s always very insightful and very well written. Favorite dish? I have so many. Depends on how many I’m making it for. Probably chili.
Blessings
Kathy
Thank you, Kathy! I really enjoyed this story. I may need to get that chili recipe from you!
My Mom’s favorite thing that I make is a hamburger taco soup. That’s not the “real” name, nor the “real” dish! It’s a made up thing I did of 2 different recipes! She really likes it, though, and doesn’t get tired of it!
This book sounds really good, so it’s going on my wish list!
That sounds like a favorite my hubs would love! Thank you for sharing, Trudy!
Jaycee, count me in for a coffee IV lol
What your favorite dish is to make for your loved ones?
Honestly, I don’t like to cook, so we’ll go out to eat sushi – everyone loves sushi in our family 🙂
Ha, I love the IV idea too, Natalya! I adore sushi, hubs not so much, lol!

Hello, Tammy! This is such a lovely book, I hope you get a chance to read it. I love BBQ anything – especially pork chops, mmm! We made BBQ chicken legs this weekend!
look forward to reading this book. Sounds interesting.
It is a great book, Pam!
I love the cover and it sounds like a wonderful story. I was a caregiver to my mom who had Alzheimers so I know the ups and downs of taking care of someone. I was blessed to have help from other amazing caregivers. I am not much of a cook any more but used to make homemade banana bread and give it away at Christmas as gifts. My husband does make awesome beefstew that we share with our daughter and her family as he always makes to much. They love it.
That sounds so yummy, Lorel! Thank you for sharing and visiting with us today!
My family favorite is marinated chicken in Italian dressing and grilled
Hi, Judith! So nice to meet you! I like making chicken that way too!
