Stranded in a small town, she might find love-or lose her life…
After Dr. Sylvia Barron is dumped by her boyfriend on the way to their vacation without her purse or ID, she lands in a puddle of beer and sprains her ankle. Desperate, she accepts help from a handsome passerby, nurse Ray Macalister. Blaming herself for her only sibling’s tragic death, she dedicated all her time to fulfilling his dream and became a successful surgeon. As her attraction to Ray grows, she wants to finally open her aching heart to amor. But when deadly threats start, will she have to walk away to avoid putting his life in danger?
Since his fiancée traded him for fame in a big city, Ray Macalister is done with career women. Growing up without a father, all he’s ever wanted is to be a good dad someday. He doesn’t hesitate to help a woman he considers a homeless drunk. Soon he realizes his error, but he’s drawn to the attractive doctor with a painful past. When someone is clearly after her, he wants to protect her, even when she runs away from him. But how can he protect his own heart, from both emotional pain and flying bullets?
my point of view:
Okay, yes, if you are all a frequent flyer of Fiction Full of Faith, this will come as no surprise to you – I adore Alexa Verde, there I said it, so we can just go on from here….LOL Seriously though, it takes a lot for me to enjoy a book so much that I want to not only review it on my blog, but promote it to everyone I possibly can!
That being said, Season of Amor is just THAT good! Not only is this a wonderful, spiritual romance, but it has that element of suspense and mystery that Alexa Verde is so amazing at writing! If you have already been blessed to read Season of Love and Season of Romance, then you know all about the Macalister family. Now we really get to know Ray, the lone brother of the bunch. Mind you, this book entirely stands on it’s own!
Ray is such a sweetheart, he just can’t help but take in “strays’ as his sisters rib him about all the time, lol! But Dr. Sylvia is not your ordinary stray, as Ray is quick to find out! Sylvia is a great character and easy for me to relate to, as I know how it is to grow up trying to please others all the time. It’s only when we can stop listening to the outside world and trust in God alone that we can become all that He has planned for us.
The journey of Ray and Sylvia is amazing, and I think you will all enjoy the ride! This story truly had me losing sleep, as the suspense part of it had my heart rate increasing and I just had to keep reading to find out who the culprit was! I promise you I was totally shocked!
About the author:
Alexa Verde writes small-town Christian romances, heartfelt and heartwarming. She penned her first literary masterpiece, a rhymed poem, at the ripe age of eight, and since has had 200 short stories, articles, and poems published in the five languages that she speaks. She has bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish, a master’s in Russian, and enjoys writing about characters with diverse cultures. She’s worn the hats of reporter, teacher, translator, model (even one day counts!), caretaker, and secretary, but thinks that the writer’s hat suits her the best. After traveling the world and living in both hemispheres, she calls a small town in south Texas home. The latter is an inspiration for the fictional setting of her popular series Rios Azules Christmas and Secrets of Rios Azules. My favorite season is fall.
Yes, the colors are spectacular, Lori, unless you live in Florida, lol
Hello, Lori! Fall is so beautiful, especially when one lives in the area where leaves turn scarlet and golden hues! Thank you very much for commenting!
My favorite season is fall, with the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. Having lived in upstate NY we were able to enjoy some truly spectacular views. (And I’m also a lover of books by Alexa Verde!)
Oh my, yes, Cathy…I miss those days!!
Awww, Cathy, thank you so much! So happy to hear you love my books. <3 And I can imagine those spectacular views!
Spring love all the fresh and new that comes out.
Yes, Kim, and the scent of spring rain….ah, one of my favorite things!
Thank you, Kim Hansen! The awakening of nature is so wonderful. Thank you for stopping by!
Being a farmer’s wife, I love (and simultaneously hate) calving season.
For us, that’s the end of January, February and the first of March. Nothing prettier than a newborn calf in the pasture. They are a promise that spring is coming and the year will be good.
As for Alexa, I didn’t discover her until Tuscan Legacy came out. I’ve been trying to catch up with her prior writing. She’s not only a consummate professional; she’s prolific. Unfortunately, I don’t have unlimited time for reading.
That sounds so delightful, Judith, thank you for sharing! And yes, Alexa has many wonderful books….if only we had more time to read, lol!!
Hi Paula! You made me want to jump and start reading this book right now. lol
Seriously, you made it sound that good. I already have the first book, so I look forward to reading the next two or however many Alexa writes. You know how I also love her books and think she’s a special lady. As always, thank you for this review.
Blessings
Kathy
Oops, I forgot to put my favorite season. Actually, I love all four. The problem is, where is there a place that has all of them in the right amount of each. Living in Texas, not one of them is very good. Otherwise it would be fall or autumn.
Thanks
Living in Florida, Kathy, I know exactly what you are talking about! One of the many reasons I miss living in the North East is the wonderful change of seasons!
Oh, you are so sweet, Kathy! I do love hearing from you!
Kathy, you’re so sweet! Thrilled that you love my books. So grateful for wonderful readers like you! And I can’t say enough good words about Paula’s support. Thank you so much!
I love Alexa’s books! Looking forward to reading this one! My favorite season is Season of Amor lol
I like Spring when everything blooms, and Fall when colors change, and Winter sometimes, and Summer, when school is over 😉
Ha, good one, Natalya! Love is always in season, right?? Thank you for dropping by, it always good to hear from you!
Paula, thank you for inviting the BEST authors 😉
It has been my honor to introduce you to the best of the best!!

What season is next? 😉
Autumn is my absolute favorite! I love all the splendid color display that it offers for our viewing pleasure.
I so miss the jewel tones of a North East Autumn!! So wonderful to see you here, Susan!
Hello, Susan Bates! You said it so well. Autumn is such a beautiful season. Thank you so much for stopping by!
Spring is my favorite season!! I love the promise it brings ❤
And the flowers! I love the flowers of spring too, Amanda! Thank you for visiting with us!
Hello, Amanda Hash! It’s wonderful when birds return return home, grass is green again, and there is a promise of warmth and new life, especially after a long and cold winter. Thank you so much for commenting!
This is my first time hearing about Alexa. I just visited Amazon and ordered this book to read. I love a good mystery and noticed a book series called Dangerous Love that I promptly purchased as well.
I love the Danger Girls!! They are awesome!
Huge thanks, Susan Bates! I hope you’ll enjoy reading my books!
Glad to “meet” you. I look forward to reading your works. 🙂
My favorite season is Spring. Finally warmer weather, all the beautiful spring flowers and young life everywhere.
Hello, Nethanja Koenen! Spring is beautiful and so welcome, especially after it’s being cold for a while. Thank you for stopping!
Yes, Nethanja, I do love the smell of fresh Spring rain too, and all the flowers! Appreciate you visiting with us!
This book sounds really good!! I’m hooked with what you wrote, Paula!! My favorite season is Winter, and since I’m in FL, it’s a very short season!! Summer is the rest of the year!!
Hello, Trudy Cordle! Glad to see you here. Paula is so kind to give such wonderful reviews. 🙂 We barely get any change of seasons in south Texas, so winter is super short here, too. Thank you very much for commenting!
Thank you, Trudy! I love hearing that, it is my mission to bring great books to readers! We are on short supply of winter in Florida, aren’t we? Sadly it is one of my favorite times!
I love the fall for the foliage and the cooler weather. I’m a huge fan of Alexa’s books, but haven’t gotten to this series yet.
Hello, Lisa! Foliage is so beautiful in fall. You’re a very avid reader, and I can imagine your TBR pile must be huge. Super grateful to have fans like you. Thank you very much for stopping by!
So many good books, so little time, right, Lisa? I hear you! I sincerely hope you get to these, they are fantastic!
I love summer and the beauty of flowers and vegetables growing. I also love spending time at the beach and gathering those seashell treasures.
Hello, Linda Maples! I love the ocean and the beach, too. Summer used to be my favorite season once upon a time. Thank you very much for sharing!
Ah, Linda, seashells are one of my favorite things to collect too! Thank you for sharing!
I like the fall.
Hello, Christie Ussery! Fall is such a beautiful season, with foliage turning scarlet and golden colors. Thank you for commenting!
Hey, Christie! The colors of Fall in the right places are amazing, aren’t they?
I love Spring best because winter is finally over. Warmer temperatures are welcome along with much-missed flower blossoms. Autumn is great too because of the cooler temperatures and colorful foliage.
Hello, Sherri! Spring brings such a welcome change after winter, and autumn is so beautiful. Thank you very much for commenting!
Hi, Sherri! It always a pleasure to see you here! I love the Spring as well, unfortunately in Florida that lasts about a day and half, lol!
Thanks for the chance to win.
I love Spring, and Fall is a close second!
They are two great times of the year, Terry! Of course, depending on where you live, lol, Our Spring and Fall are quite limited in Florida, hahaha!
My pleasure, Terry! Best wishes in the giveaway!
My favorite season is Fall.
Hi, Kelley, thank you for sharing, Fall can be spectacular with all the changing of the leaves!
Hello, Kelley! Thank you very much for stopping by, and I agree with Paula, fall can be spectacular!
I like Spring best, but, Fall is great, too!
Welcome, Linda, thank you for sharing today! Spring is so sweet with the freshness in the air! Fall is a favorite of mine too!
Hello, Linda Wesson! I think Paula already said it best about spring. 🙂 Thank you very much for commenting!
Floridian winter is my favorite. I’m sure in every other part of the country I would say fall. I love that sweet spot in temperature from 50-75 Deg F. So perfect. Otherwise I would say fall because of the colors everywhere and pumpkin everything. 😊
Hello, Crystal Spencer! Floridian winter sounds a bit like winter in south Texas. 🙂 And yes, in many parts of the country fall is gorgeous because of all beautiful golden and crimson hues and the temperature is still warm. Thank you so much for stopping by!
Thanks for sharing, Crystal! I do love the cooler temps as well!
Alexa Verde has recently become a big fav of mine! This one looks so good & I can’t wait to read it. Currently trying to get through her other books…
Awwww, Erica, you just put a huge smile on my face. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I am so glad to hear that, Erica! She does have many books to read, and they are all wonderful!
My favorite season is Fall. The beautiful leaves changing colors along with cooler weather. I love sitting out on a porch swing reading a book and every now and then looking around at the beautiful world God made for us. It is hard sometimes to see and hear beautiful things because man has destroyed so much and crime is so bad. God is still with us and He blesses us Everyday!
Fall is so beautiful, Dorothy, totally agree with you. It’s in those sweet times we can really see God’s existence, so true!
MY FAVORITE SEASON IS FALL LOVE YOUR BOOKS!
Awww, Sarah Taylor, heartfelt thanks for your wonderful words! Happy to hear that you love my books!
Couldn’t agree with you more, Sarah! Thank you for sharing!
My favorite season is spring. I love all the signs of new life. I breathe easier during this time.
Hello, Sonetta Jones! I love the way you said it. I never thought about it, but yes, it’s easier to breathe in spring. Thank you very much for sharing!

I love the spring when everything here is green and blooming!
Hello, Heidi Robbins! A great reason to love spring. Thank you very much for sharing!
Yes, Heidi, the green after winter is so lovely in the spring!💐
I’ve been a fan of Alexa’s books from the beginning, and this sounds like another winner! My favorite season is summer – I love the sunshine, hot summer nights, fireflies, barbecues & picnics, and even the summer thunderstorms!
There is something special about a thunderstorm, isn’t there? We have a lot of summer here in Florida!
Awww, Jennifer, thank you so much for your kinds words! And I loved the way you described summer, though I’m not sure I’m fond of thunderstorms. 🙂 Thank you very much for stopping by!
I love Fall, the cool weather, hot chocolate and a comfy blanket.
Yes, Karen! I always love a blanket to snuggle under!
Karen Hadley, that sounds wonderful, especially combined with a great book! Thank you very much for sharing!

Thank you for dropping by, Patty! Yes, Spring is a definite favorite of everyone here!
Thank you for commenting, Patty! And Paula is right. Spring seems to be a popular season. 🙂
Loves this whole series. I think my favorite season is spring now. I love the flowering/leafing out of trees and greening up of everything. Plus the weather is nice, but not too hot.
Yes, Andrea… I completely agree with you on the benefits of spring! Just wish it lasted longer in Florida ❤️
Awww, Andrea, heartfelt thanks for your kind words, and thank you for sharing! <3
This book sounds amazing!! I need to red the others in the series first though. I am new to this author but I do have River of Danger on my kindle so I see that I need to read that ASAP! Thanks for this wonderful review, you make me want to buy it right now!
OH i live in southern California in the desert so my favorite season is actually Spring. I would say Fall but we don’t get all those colors of Fall that other people get. i would love to visit a place someday during the Fall to see all the leaves changing colors.
Thanks for the chance of the giveaway!
So glad you enjoyed it, Shannan! I hope you get to read all of them soon! Thank you for sharing!
Hello, Shannan Williams! Paula gave such a wonderful review to this book indeed, and I’m very grateful. I really hope you’ll enjoy reading my books. And I love change of colors, but we don’t get it in south Texas, either. Thank you very much for sharing, and best wishes in the giveaway!
The giveaways is over. Huge thanks to everyone who commented! The winner will be announced soon.
The randomly chosen winner of the giveaway is Patty (the comment about spring and all the signs of new life). Congratulations, Patty! $10 Amazon gift card was gifted. Once again, heartfelt thanks to everybody who commented! I truly enjoyed communicating with you.
Congratulations, Patty!
As always, thank you to everyone for participating and a huge thank you to Alexa for the amazing giveaway!
Looking forward to spring – sign of new life. Great book. This is my review. Has does one overcome a tragic death of a sibling, rejection, abandenment, and mistaken identity? Alexa Verde weaves a powerful story part suspense and part romance. Her writing style immediately draws the reader into the conflict. What would I do if I saw a woman struggling in a puddle of beer? Her characters struggle with modern day misconceptions and feeling of worthlessness and second chances. A plot with twist and turns, yet a believable resolution. Season of Amor may be read as a stand alone, but the series will delight any avid reader of faith, suspense, and romance. Thanks Alexa Verde
Beautiful review, Renate!
