In the spring of 1961, ten-year-old Nate “Weenie” Dooley has a revelation-his father is not a good one.
Inspired by National Geographic, his favorite thing next to the Bible storybook his mother gave him before she died, Nate plans to leave his father and their home in the Smokies to set out on adventure.
When he discovers that his father has left him first, it will take the help of a stray dog, some kind neighbors, a one-man-band, letters from a long-lost-aunt, and a new understanding of God to figure out he isn’t really alone.
Will he find that Copper Creek is where he’s always belonged? Or will his wanderlust keep him from ever coming back?
John 4:1-42 – Jesus talks with the Samaritan woman
Great one, Robin! Thanks for visiting with us today!
Would love to read
I hope you get the chance to, Sue!
sounds like a great read
It really is, Doreen!
My favorite Bible stories are about Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego, and the woman who touched the hem of His garment. I can so relate to her!!!!! Another book I’ve heard a little about, but haven’t read!
Thank you for sharing, Trudy! I found this story to be a wonderful read!
The Prodigal Son parable is my favorite, especially after reading Nouen book about the Rembrandt painting. I would love to read your book and will review it on Amazon and Goodreads.
That is a favorite of mine too, Mary! Thank you for visiting with us!
That is my son’s favorite Bible story, too.
Thanks for being willing to review the book if you get the chance! So helpful!
The story of Esther is my favorite Bible story. She was an orphan who God put in a place of favor and that is also the name of one of my granddaughters. She was honored and promoted fir her obedience.
I have always loved Esther’s story as well, Sharon! Thank you for sharing!
I think my favorite Bible story is Jonah because as a typical human, he tried to run from God and do his own thing. It never pays to run from God!
Yes, Perrianne…a definite lesson in that story!
I would love to read this.
I hope you get the chance to, Janis!
This is one book I am not only adding to my TBR pile…. I’m moving it to the top of the list!
My favorite part of the Bible is when Jesus says that to enter the kingdom of Heaven that we must be like children. How unique this book is in giving us the perspective of a child and his relationship with God. I can only imagine what a challenge this would be for an adult female to write.
My favorite story in the Bible is the story of Jesus’ conception and birth. The creation story is a very close second. Without both I wouldn’t have a foundation for my faith.
Beautiful choices, Erica! I believe you will really appreciate this book!
I’m not very good at bible stories. The bible is a book I should read but have not done so. This book sounds really good. Thank you for a chance to win a copy.
Thank you for sharing, Maryanne, I hope you get to read both books😀
I love the story of Ruth. Her faithfulness to honor her mother-in-law and stay with her and say to her “For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.”
It takes a strong faith, trust and courage to just go without question.
Being a minister’s wife, I understand what it means to truth God and go where He sends you. In fact, we had the “Song of Ruth” sung at our wedding.
Heather, I would love to read your book. It sounds like something I would like to share with my children and grandchildren.
Thank you Paula for bring, to me at least, a new author and your review of her book. You brought out the essence of the story that makes me want to read it. ❤️
You are so insightful, Kathy! Ruth is one of my favorite women in the Bible, as well as Naomi!
I know you would enjoy this book!
You’ve piqued my interest. As far as my favorite Bible story… hubby and I read the Bible through every year so I have several favorites, but one that never fails to bring tears to my eyes is when Moses looks out to the promised land, knowing he’ll never set foot in it. However, what a special and unique relationship he had with God.
Wow, Jessica, yes, that is a very powerful moment in the Bible! Thanks for sharing with us!
My favorite bible stories are Daniel in the Lions Den. – God showed his love, faithful and protection. Also The Prodigal Son.
Hi, Merry! Both are excellent stories! Thank you for sharing!
Daniel. Especially after I read Of Fire and Lions by Mesu Andrews.
Yes, Brenda, Daniel is a favorite of mine too! Appreciate you visiting with us!
Sounds like a great story. I also read one recently from a young girl’s POV growing up in poverty and reconnecting to lost family. Thanks for sharing.
My Favorite Bible stories are Elijah and Elisha.

Wow, 10 year old! I’m shocked 😱
One of my favorite Bible stories is when Paul met with God! So powerful!
I was too, Natalya! It’s really a great story!
