my point of view for Belong With Me by Alexa Verde

February 6, 2020 in my point of view

Welcome to my point of view for Belong With Me by Alexa Verde! Alexa is aso sponsoring a $5.00 Amazon gift card giveaway, learn how to enter below!

A third chance or a third strike?

What do a dog, a cat, and a hamster, and a whole lot of fish have in common? The couple of humans taking care of them trying not to fall in love! An opposites-attract, fish-out-of-water romance to warm your heart.

Translator Cassidy Longfellow’s quiet life is turned upside down when she returns to her hometown to care for her niece. Not only must she deal with a lovestruck teen and a dog but also with a neighbor with nephews and a multitude of pets. After having loved and lost twice, her heart is closed to romance. But can the handsome neighbor warm her heart this cold winter enough for a third chance?

A former executive from Boston, Jonathan Hastings, was betrayed too many times to believe romantic love is possible for him. But he adores his nephews and needs all the help he can get, including from a shy lovely woman next door who draws him in. When his past threatens his future, what will he choose?

Welcome to Chapel Cove, Oregon, where life begins at forty.

Stunning coastline, a harbor against life’s storms, and a welcoming community await in Chapel Cove. A place where those hurt by challenges, disappointments, and failures or reminded of their unfulfilled hopes and dreams can make a fresh start. And, if they’re brave enough to accept it, maybe find a second chance at love, if only they’ll allow God to safely anchor them in their hearts’ home?

Discover this small town filled with love, hope, and faith, in Chapel Cove, a series of sweet and clean standalone Christian romances. Join bestselling authors Marion Ueckermann, Alexa Verde, and Autumn Macarthur in Chapel Cove today!

    my point of view:

I must say I have been having a wonderful time in Chapel Cove, it has easily become one of my favorite fictional towns! This latest story is no exception! This lovely town is a beautiful setting for this amazing community of folks, who are always there for one another! I have always loved that small town vibe, where everyone knows each other and is willing to lend a hand (or a pastry <grins> as needed) when there is someone in need.

Cassidy reminds me so much of myself – much younger version of myself, of course, lol. Being single in your thirties, having loved and lost – not once, but twice – you begin to believe you are just better off staying alone and caring for others. The heartache she has endured by being in love twice before has certainly made her hesitant to try again. She also has a really hard time saying ‘no’ to anyone, from her sister in need of a caregiver, to a total stranger as a baby sitter of his nephews! Cassidy is a beautiful example of a woman who is willing to be there for her family and others, no matter how much it may interrupt her own life.

Enter neighbor, Jonathan……he, too has been burned by love, in a most dramatic fashion. He wants nothing more than to recoup his business, or start a new one and get on with his financial success. Even so, he agrees to watch his precious nephews and their hoard of pets while his sister and her husband leave for a cruise. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he’d find someone like Cassidy living right next door!

The beautiful faith these people have in God is so wonderful to read, and the outcome is more than I ever expected or dreamed would happen in this amazing story! It literally had me in tears and I am so grateful to have read this story – you will be too!

    About Alexa Verde

Alexa Verde writes feel-good small-town romances with a smile. She’d love it if you subscribed to her newsletter http://www.alexaverde.com/contact.html#newsletter (every subscriber gets a free Christian romance after confirming the subscription as a thank-you gift). She penned her first literary masterpiece, a rhymed poem, at the ripe age of eight, and since has had twenty books and 200 short stories, articles, and poems published in the five languages that she speaks. She has bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish, a master’s in Russian, and enjoys writing about characters with diverse cultures. She’s worn the hats of reporter, teacher, translator, model (even one day counts!), caretaker, and secretary, but thinks that the writer’s hat suits her the best. After traveling the world and living in both hemispheres, she calls a small town in south Texas home. The latter is an inspiration for the fictional setting of her popular series Rios Azules Christmas and Secrets of Rios Azules. She hopes and prays that her stories will bring joy to her readers. Heartfelt thanks for interest in her books!

Alexa Verde is once again being her oh so generous self and offering a $5.00 Amazon gift card for one of our readers! Comment below and tell us what would be your first choice of a new language to learn to speak fluently if you could! Contest will run until 6pm EST on Feb 21st and winner will be notified via email!

Probably Spanish because it could actually be used purposefully if the opportunity arose. But I’d love to learn Sign Language although I’d have to purposefully look for an outlet to use it.

My roots are Germany so would like to learn German but practically living in the states especially California, Spanish would probably be a better choice and quite helpful in my career. I just wish I was better at learning a language as I did not do to well in high school Spanish.

        February 6, 2020 at 12:30 pm

Lorel, I think there are different and more fun ways to learn a language than in classroom. I learned Spanish primarily by watching telenovelas! And I learned something new about you today. 🙂

      February 6, 2020 at 12:43 pm

I’m from the U.K. but living in the U.S. since last March. I lived in Sweden and France for a few years so I was able to speak both Swedish and French fluently. I taught both languages in schools and at evening classes for over 30 years and offer teanslation services for both, but of course, living there was the best way for me to learn. I love languages though and would love to learn Japanese. I have a smattering of Cantonese, but not enough to get by.

      • AvatarAlexa Verde says

        February 6, 2020 at 3:21 pm

Carmina, you must have such an interesting life. I heard Swedish is a very difficult language to learn, so kudos to you for learning to speak it fluently. Japanese and Cantonese are even more difficult! Once upon a time, I was fascinated with Japanese. I agree that it would be a great language to learn. Loved your comment! Thank you so much for sharing!

        • AvatarCarmina Lavergne says

          February 15, 2020 at 10:08 am

Thank you, Alexa. I only just saw your comment, now. Yes, my life has been incredibly interesting and a veritable roller-coaster for much of it. Haha. Japanese is harder to learn, but I would love to.

      • AvatarPaula Marie says

        February 6, 2020 at 4:49 pm

Wow, that is ambitious, Carmina! I cannot even imagine speaking all of that!

        • AvatarCarmina Lavergne says

          February 15, 2020 at 10:14 am

Thank you, Paula. I just love languages, it’s my thing. 🙂
When I was at school, I had no interest in learning another language, so when, at not quite 17, I went to work in Sweden as an au-pair for a year, I had to learn quickly. I was surprised by how easy it turned out to be for me. A few years later, I went to France and had to learn quickly there, too. I loved it. I used to think how wonderful it would be, to go to a different country, a year at a time…I want to learn every language. Haha.

          • AvatarAlexa Verde says

            February 15, 2020 at 12:39 pm

I would like to learn to speak Spanish fluently, because where I live there are a lot of Mexicans who come here to work. They work at jobs that a lot of Americans think they are too good for like handpicking cabbage, pumpkins, etc. They are happy to just have the work.

I have one that no-one has said yet! I would like to speak isiXhosa. It is the language from the province where I teach in South Africa, so most of my students speak it as their first language. Unfortunately, I am limited to a greeting.

Spanish! I even took 2 semesters of it 3 years ago. I think I had the highest grade in the class, I just needed to practice with people. In our area there are A LOT of people who only speak Spanish. It would be so helpful, I could witness to them better.

What a lovely cover. This books sounds wonderful. I would learn Spanish again. I remember some but not nearly enough. I run into a lot of Spanish speaking people, some are friends, and it would be lovely to converse in their language. Also, German. My husband has a lot of letters from relatives going all the way back to the late 1800’s. It would be awesome to be able to read them. I would love to go to Germany some day.
