Today I am excited to have Danni Roan with us for coffee and a chance to get to know her better!
PM: What is one thing about you that your readers would be shocked to know?
DR: As a teen I skipped school a time or two to go horseback riding, but most people are a little surprised when I tell them I live in a thirty-six foot RV. Last June we sold our house and haven’t looked back since.
PM: I currently live in Jacksonville, FL, and the Gators are a big deal here, lol! I see your son is attending the University of Florida, do you ever get a chance to come and visit him?
DR: At the moment we are parked right outside my mother-in-laws house where our son is staying while he studies. We’ve been here since late December and it is wonderful to just have time with our son and the family. I guess I have to be a Gator fan now since Luke is attending UF now.
PM: How fun that you can travel as you like! Don’t tell anyone, but I am UGA fan, GO Dawgs! If you couldn’t be a writer, what career path do you think you’d choose to be on?
DR: I would probably still be teaching. I loved being in the classroom but right now my passion is writing. My first dream was always to be a horse trainer though so that would work to.
PM: Do you write stories more from your own experiences, or do you spend a lot time doing research on the type of characters your creating?
DR: I mostly do research but I love to sneak little things in I’ve heard along the way or use something I did once to start a new tale. My characters are drawn from all sorts of places and I warn everyone that I steal names. With traveling the way we do I now include so much more of what I’ve seen in my writing.
PM: What was your most beloved book to read as a child?
DR: “A Pony for the Winter”. All I ever wanted was a pony or horse. I read that book until the cover came off. I still have a copy hidden away. That story always made me see that having a pony wouldn’t always be easy.
PM: Tell us what you enjoy doing the most when you are not writing or reading?
DR: I love being outdoors and hiking. Being in nature feeds my soul. I also read every chance I get.
PM: If you could be any character from fiction, whom would you be?
DR: I think I would like to be Nevel Longbottom from Harry Potter. Yes that sounds crazy but Nevel had all the frailties of humanity and no special gifts but he kept trying no matter what. To me it doesn’t matter how often you fall down as long as you keep getting up again.
PM: I see your specialty is in Western romances, what draws you to that period?
DR: The horses. I’m a total horse nut and love to work them into my stories. I also grew up watching Westerns with my dad and reading Lois L’Amore. I just love westerns.
PM: How can readers keep up with you and your new releases?
DR: The best place to keep up with me is my website. https://www.authordanniroan.com/ where you can find links to all of my social media sites. Or you can also hang out with me on Facebook just look for author Danni Roan.
PM: Finally, coffee or tea? Cream, sugar?
DR: Tea please with cream.
I enjoyed reading about Danni! I love her books and I already have that book! Although, I have never read that series! Bide’s Clump was my favorite series!
Thank you so much for sharing, Linda!
