Special Assignment: Hometown Heroes book 3 by JL Crosswhite & a Giveaway!

August 8, 2019 in my point of view

She’s trying to save her company. He’s trying to salvage his reputation. Only one of them can be right.

Vice president of operations Melissa Ellis might have met the first challenge she couldn’t overcome. Her company is hemorrhaging money, and her boss blames her. The deeper she digs, the more trouble she finds. She turns to the one person who can help: the confident and dangerously charming Scott Blake.

Naval aviator Scott “Superman” Blake is recovering from the accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury. Driven to salvage his reputation and regain his career, he must prove it wasn’t pilot error. When Melissa asks for his help, he jumps at the chance to spend more time with her and salvage his name. But if he’s right, he’ll take her company down.

When their investigation turns up a bigger problem than software glitches, Melissa is caught in the crosshairs of their unknown enemy. As they work together, their casual flirtation turns to something much deeper. Can they make a relationship work, or will it crash and burn?

As the stakes rise and the clock ticks, can they figure out who’s behind the danger before someone else dies. Or will they lose everything, including each other?

Special Assignment is book 3 in the Hometown Heroes series, but it can be read as a stand alone. If you like Christian romantic suspense and nail-biting page turners, you’ll love this journey of risk and trust. Buy Special Assignment and jump into the adventure today.

    my point of view:

Wow, another new to me author, I can’t believe I have never read anything by this author until now! What an amazing story this was. It is book three in the series, but honestly, this novel can totally stand on it’s own. While I was aware that the other characters most likely had their own story already written, it took nothing away from the intensity and enjoyment of this book.

I was able to relate to the heroine, Melissa, in a very personal way, I am all about my company, my co-workers are like family, and I truly look up to the president of my company as a father figure. I could easily imagine how much it would hurt to be in her position! My specialty is also solving problems, just not usually with numbers, lol!

As for the background, well, I also have a bit of a soft spot for the military, Navy especially, as I live in a city that had three naval bases at one time, and my hubs is a veteran! I always wonder at how difficult it must be to be injured in such a way that you may never be able to return to the work you love. Both Scott and Melissa make a great team while trying to solve a mystery and find justice as well.

The suspense was as every bit as good as the romance, and I enjoyed every moment of the story! I cannot wait to read more form this ‘new to me” author!

    About JL Crosswhite

Ordinary people. Extraordinary circumstances. Extra-ordinary God. The first two sentences don’t necessarily have good outcomes without the third.

Some days life is just hard. The kids are screaming. The house is a mess. Your boss wants a report yesterday. The fridge is empty. The sink is overflowing. You forgot to pay a bill. Your Facebook feed is full of other people’s vacation photos, gourmet meals, and cute shoes.

    It’s overwhelming.

And when we’re overwhelmed, maybe we don’t always respond to life with serenity and grace.

It’s time to take a break. Pick up a book and join someone else’s world for a while. Books last longer than a fancy coffee drink and can take you to anywhere in the world and to any time period.

Most of us are ordinary people. We won’t be mentioned in history books. Documentary films won’t be made about our lives. A film crew won’t follow us through out our days. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t extraordinary.

Each of us has a unique purpose and reason for being on this planet, whether we know it or not, whether we can see it or not over the mounds of bills, dirty laundry, piles of dishes.

But sometimes we need someone to show us the way. Heroes and heroines who live life a bit bigger than we do, though not necessarily by their choice.

So take a break for a moment. Grab a few quiet moments and your favorite drink and read about women and men as ordinary as you. Who may or may not recognize that they are in some extraordinary circumstances.

    And see what happens.

As for me, my favorite thing is discovering how much there is to love about America the Beautiful and the great outdoors. I’m an Amazon bestselling author, a mom to two navigating the young adult years while battling my daughter’s juvenile arthritis, exploring the delights of my son’s autism, and keeping gluten free. A California native who’s spent significant time in the Midwest, I’m thrilled to be back in the Golden State. Follow me on social media to see all my adventures and how I get inspired for my books!

JL Crosswhite has generously offered an ebook version of Special Assignment to one of readers! Simply comment on this blog to be entered! The contest will run for one week from today and winner will be notified via email!
