    Review & Giveaway of The Preacher’s Faith by Caryl McAdoo

    May 2, 2019 in my point of view

    Can the orphaned preacher and the heartbroken rodeo queen navigate the path to true love with a lie and an ex-beau blocking their way?

    Learning of Faith Johnson’s rash promise to her father, New Hope Baptist’s interim preacher Asa Davidson shows up to apply for the position—of husband. The cowgirl was only trying to give her dying father hope promising to marry the first thirty-something-year-old Christian virgin to ask. Who’d ever dream one existed in all of Texas, much less Red River County? But sure enough, one comes a’courting the very next day thanks to the Lord and Daddy’s baby sister, loud mouth Aunt Iris. Faith’s appalled, but a promise is a promise. She only needs to figure a way out.
    Originally, Asa sees matrimony as a career move. He hopes a godly, local wife will seal the deal for a permanent call. Then asked right out about that very thing, he lies. Sparks fly when her past love and the preacher meet up, but as the days pass, she finds herself admiring the man and his relationship to God more and more. He’s a hard worker and wonderful, fun companion. Maybe she could learn to love him. But what if New Hope doesn’t call him? She loves it right where she’s at. Plus what about her dying father? And there’s that untruth between them….
    And to make things even harder, her ex comes to Christ through it all!

    my point of view:

    I just adored this story! Have you ever made a quick comment, not really thinking about the details of what you say, only to have it come back and haunt you in such a profound way it literally changes your life from that day forward? No? Well, maybe that’s a good thing…..lol, or maybe you should try it sometime, hahaha! I did make a mistake like that once with my mother, as a teen, and let’s just say it definitely had epic consequences, lol!

    As the premise for this story though, I found it so adorably sweet, and it truly melted my heart! Asa is one of the sweetest hero’s I have read in a long time….he is so passionate about the Lord, and his calling…..and his service to the people. I found myself smiling nearly the entire time I read this novel!

    Faith is a darling as well, she is so sure she knows her path – needing to take care of her farther – that she cannot imagine a ‘personal’ life beyond that. She works harder than most men and doesn’t ever complain, even though she is still young enough to warrant a social life, she does what she feels is needed day in and day out. But they both find out that God has many blessings in store for all concerned. Don’t forget Faith’s dad and Aunt Iris either, these two are a hoot and manage to wiggle their way in your heart just as much as the main characters do!

    My new favorite saying? “Bless God”  Amen to that, thank you, Caryl, for sending me this beautiful story, I have been blessed for having read it!

    About Caryl McAdoo

    Caryl McAdoo, praying her story gives God glory, loves writing for Christian genres–historical and contemporary romance, Biblical fiction, and mid-grade/young adults. After ten years being published and nine titles, in March 2014, Simon and Schuster debuted Caryl’s VOW UNBROKEN, a historical Christian romance set in 1832 Texas.

    In the fall of that year, the prolific author followed with two more titles independently, HEARTS STOLEN, book one of her Texas Romance Family Saga series (TxRFSs) set in 1839-1844, an Amazon #1 Best-seller, and A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, volume one of her first Biblical fiction series, The Generations(TGenBFs)–also an Amazon #1 Best-seller.

    In an exciting 2015–with God’s help–she released eleven new releases! Three for her historical Texas Romance Family Saga (TxRFSs), three for The Generations Biblical fiction series (TGenBFs), three for the contemporary Red River Romances Romance series (RRRs), a non-fiction book on writing, and book one of a new mid-grade series Dyas of Dread Trilogy. This amazing accomplishment went as follows:

    January’s HOPE REBORN (1850-1851), book two of TxRFSs–a #1 Amazon Best-seller;
    February 10, THE PREACHER’S FAITH, the first contemporary RRRs launched;
    March 6th saw the release of THEN THE DELUGE COMES, volume 2 of TGenBFs;
    April 17th, SING A NEW SONG, book two RRRs launched;
    May 3rd, book three SINS OF THE MOTHERS (1851-1853) of her TxRFSs debuted;
    June brought a handbook for writers, STORY & STYLE, The Craft of Writing Creative Fiction; July’s debut: ONE AND DONE, the third RRRs, for Baseball lovers and those who are not; August 8th, volume three TGenBFs REPLENISH THE EARTH;
    September 1st brought DAUGHTERS OF THE HEART (1854) book four of the TxRFSs;
    October launched the Days of Dread trilogy first, THE KING’S HIGHWAY for mid-grade/YA.
    November’s release was volume four CHILDREN OF EDEN of TGenBFs.

    She added two more novels to the Texas Romance Family Saga and the series first historical ‘Companion Book’ in 2016: book five JUST KIN (1861-1865) book six AT LIBERTY TO LOVE (1865-1866) and THE BEDWARMER’S SON with two parallel stories in 1859 and 1926). Then three additional titles to the Family Saga in 2017: book seven COVERING LOVE (1885-886), MIGHTY TO SAVE book eight (1914-1924), and CHIEF OF SINNERS (1926-1950).

    2018 is sure to be another good year for Caryl with two new historical releases in January, SON OF PROMISE (1950), Companion Book Two to TxRFSs and SILENT HARMONY (1867), part of a multi-author Lockets and Lace series. At this time, three more titles are expected. Her stories are well received–4-5-Star average rankings across the board in all her genres.

    Caryl’s heart to serve is apparent as she helps other new authors realize their dreams. Besides teaching writing creative fiction, she also works to show them how to format their novels and the importance of good edits from fresh eyes. As she was mentored at the DFW Writers’ Workshop fifteen years (1993-2008), she hopes to pay God’s blessings forwarding mentoring others.

    For every good in her life–including four children and seventeen grandsugars–she gives God the glory. Caryl lives a country-life with Ron, her high school sweetheart and husband of fifty years (1968-2018) in the woods a few miles south of Clarksville, Red River County seat, located in the far Northeast corner of Texas.

    Caryl is being so generous, she is offering one commenter on this post a free ebook version of The Preacher’s Faith, !ontest will run for one week from today, winner will be notified via email!
