my point of view: The Hope of Christmas Past by Stephenia H McGee

November 7, 2019 in my point of view

When a mysterious painting offers her a trip to the past, will Isla find new hope for her future?

On the brink of aging out the foster system, the last thing Isla Laird wants is to spend Christmas in an old-fashioned plantation. What’s the point of bonding with her foster mom when it’s too late to ever be adopted? But when a mysterious painting suddenly thrusts her into the nineteenth century, Isla is forced to face hurts and memories she’s long tried to bury. With time running out and her heart in tatters, can God use an impossible miracle to bring Isla hope for a new future?

    my point of view:

This is a lovely, sweet novella about family and Christmas! I especially enjoyed getting a ‘peak’ into the past and life on a plantation. When I was young, I always thought I was born in the ‘wrong time’ and gravitated to books and shows about time travel. What I wouldn’t have given to be Isla and slip into the past, even for just a short time! I so enjoyed  reading this beautiful story about a young girl needed to find she belongs somewhere – needing a family of her very own.

This story can really be read by any teen or adult, there is no romance in it, but a very encouraging story of hope, family, and God all wrapped up into one. I highly recommend this novella for giving you a getaway of your very own…and just in time for Christmas!

Sounds like a book of blessings coming in a she never expected. In our day and time, I think we Tend to see the bad rather than focusing on the blessings. I know I have gotten into that habit. I am trying to get out of it. I need to read this book. It sounds like it’s just what I need. Thank you Paula for the article and review.
And to Stephenia. Your inspiration is just what I need. I look forward to reading it. Thank you!
      Love to you and Paula!!!
