my point of view for The Lonely Seagull by R. Marshall Wright

February 18, 2021 in my point of view

Joel Whittaker married his high school sweetheart only to lose her in a tragic sailing accident in 1958. Now a single parent responsible for their six-year-old son, he believes he must do what is right for Billy. Babs is there when they need her most, but can she make Joel happy? God has a plan for Joel’s life as he struggles with the pieces of the puzzle. They are all there, but Joel can’t see the big picture. Then God rearranged the pieces of the plan for Joel’s life, and he found his second chance. That’s what God does. The Lonely Seagull will keep you smiling, crying, and praising God.

    my point of view:

This story is one of the finest novels I have read in a long time. The author has a way of making you feel right there as if you are sitting on the deck with Joel and meeting the lonely seagull in person. I adore the New England setting and the history of time the whole world felt pulled together. This novel will have you laughing, crying, and cheering, but more importantly it will have you feeling yet new and more powerful kinship with God.

So many characters have huge roles in the story, even if they are not in it very long…one of my favorites is Mr. McCreedy. I know you will love him too! And, let’s not forget Beasley – I want a Beasley in my life! If you only take away one thing from this story – it is that God always has a plan, and no matter how we try to distant ourselves from Him at times in our lives, He is always there waiting for our return.

If you have never read anything by this author previously, PLEASE correct that as soon as possible! This man is one brilliant story teller. I have read all of his novels, and get excited about the next one before he has even written it!
